Commercial use licence

Last updated 2 September 2026

Every design you unlock or purchase on GemTheName comes with a commercial licence. This page states it in plain language - it supplements our Terms of Service, which govern if anything here conflicts.

What you CAN do

  • Make and sell unlimited physical products from a design you unlocked - pendants, keychains, cake toppers, décor - in any material, in any quantity, on any channel (Etsy, Instagram, your shop, wholesale). No per-unit royalties, ever.
  • Use the included mockup photos and videos from library listings in your own product listings and marketing for products made from that design.
  • Have the file cut by a third party - sharing the file with a laser shop or workshop for the purpose of producing your items is expected and allowed.
  • Modify the design for your production needs (rescaling, adding a backplate, engraving additions) - the licence covers products made from modified versions too.
  • Re-download forever. Unlocked designs stay in your account; the licence has no expiry.

What you CANNOT do

  • Resell, share or redistribute the digital files themselves - as-is or modified - including in bundles, free downloads, or “digital product” listings. You sell what you make, not our files.
  • Claim the design system as your own - offering a competing name-file generation service using our outputs is not covered.
  • Use the mockups for unrelated products - they are licensed alongside the design they portray.

One licence per account, whole team covered

The licence is granted to the purchasing account and covers products made for that account’s business - including production by your staff or your cutting partners. If you run multiple distinct businesses, we simply ask that each maintains its own account.

Tool-generated designs

Designs you generate with the name designer carry the same licence once unlocked. Note that the same name generated by different customers yields the same or similar output - exclusivity over a name or its rendering is not part of the licence.
