Name necklace files for Glowforge & xTool - single-piece, ready to cut
Your Glowforge or xTool is perfectly capable of making name necklaces - if the file is right. GemTheName generates any name as a welded single-piece outline with jump-ring holes already placed, in true-millimetre SVG (and DXF for LightBurn users), so it imports at the correct size and cuts without loose pieces.
✦A digital product: you instantly receive laser-ready cut files (SVG + DXF) - not a finished necklace.

What your machine can cut (the honest version)
A Glowforge is a CO₂ laser: brilliant at acrylic, wood, leather - but it does not cut metal sheet. Diode machines (many xTool and Atomstack models) handle wood and dark acrylic; bare brass reflects their beam. So the realistic Glowforge/xTool name-necklace materials are 2-3 mm acrylic (including mirror and glitter), walnut or maple ply, and leather. Want the same name in gold or brass later? The download includes a DXF - hand it to any local fiber-laser or jewellery shop and cut the metal version from the identical geometry.
Why single-piece files matter even more on hobby lasers
On a workshop fiber laser an operator catches loose pieces; at home, the dot of an “i” simply drops through the crumb tray. Every GemTheName file is welded and bridge-connected until it is one continuous outline - verified before download - so what comes off the bed is a finished pendant, not a puzzle.
Import tips: the SVG uses real millimetre units, so Glowforge’s app and xTool Creative Space place it at true size - still, confirm the overall width once before cutting. LightBurn users can load either format; the DXF is plain polylines that import clean.
Suggested settings approach
Materials and machines vary too much for universal numbers - run your machine’s material test grid once on the acrylic you bought, then cut one test pendant before a batch. Fine details and bridges are tuned for the 30-50 mm width range, so avoid scaling below ~25 mm.
Will the SVG import at the right size?
Yes - files are authored in true millimetre units with a matching viewBox, which Glowforge, xTool and LightBurn all respect. A 40 mm design imports at 40 mm.
Can my Glowforge cut the brass version?
No - CO₂ lasers don’t cut metal sheet. Cut acrylic or wood at home, and take the included DXF to a local fiber-laser or jewellery shop for the metal version.
Are the jump-ring holes included?
Yes - a loop at each end, sized for standard 3-4 mm jump rings, already part of the single-piece outline.
Hindi or Gujarati names too?
Yes - the generator handles Hindi, Marathi and Gujarati with live transliteration, alongside English.
